I know where the rent is spent

There are plenty of positive reasons to live in a housing co-op. First and foremost though, I am not a big fan of handing over half my hard-earned wages each month to some random landlord, and co-op housing tends to be a lot more reasonably priced than private renting or buying – I have lived in London’s Zone 2 for less than £200 per month, all-in! I appreciate being in control of my own housing, having a secure home not subject to the whim of property owners.
